The challenge of any ideology and movement is to stay current and relevant at all times. For the movement to continue to influence thought, politics, society and personal behavior, it has to keep up with the times. It needs to be open to all issues affecting women, regardless of race, economic status and political differences. It needs to embrace diversity. Feminism started out being a white middle class club but has since broaden its reaches to include women of color, though feelings of marginalization still exist. For it to advance as a socio-political movement, it needs to keep an open ear and open mind at all times.
What does feminism mean?
One male wrestles with what feminism means to him. He outlines his exploration of feminism in an intellectual, eloquent, and reflective manner. He draws similarities and differences between other "isms." He explores terms such as feminazi, militancy, liberal feminism, and patriarchy. Patriarchy doesn't just hurt women. It hurts men as well and he gives examples of the ways that rigid perceptions of female and male roles in society damage both genders.
