Free hugs started with Juan Mann whose mission was to hug a stranger and offer hope, connectivity, and human contact. His idea caught on and spread across the world. In this world where there's so much hate and violence, experience for yourself the power of a free hug. We are capable of so much compassion and love. Let's show each other love.

Free Hugs Scotland
Two guys and two girls held up "Free Hugs" signs in four cities, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth on March 2007 and offered free hugs to people on the street. It's incredible how good it makes people feel. The police asked them to leave but the public defended them. Their one-day-long journey is captured here.
Free Hugs in Korea
Jinwoo Shin, a Korean, made a free hugs video in South Korea to music by Sick Puppies. Holding a sign written in Korean, he gets hugs from all kinds of people - young, old, male and female. From a place of a love, it is a beautiful gesture.
At the end of the video, the message written in Korean translates into:

In this place, there is love
In this place, there are smiles and happiness

You just need a little courage

Free Hugs - Interview with Juan Mann
Juan Mann talks about how got started with the free hugs campaign in Sydney, Australia. After coming back from overseas, he noticed how miserable people were and started to offer free hugs to strangers. He was asked to move on from Sydney unless he can buy liability, but after 10,000 signatures, he was allowed to continue hugging. His message has since become a youtube sensation.
Free Hugs Campaign
Free Hugs has turned into a global movement which has spread the message of love across the world. It is voted number one youtube video of the year. The video, created by Shimon Moore and Sick Puppies, features Juan Mann walking through public spaces, holding a sign that reads "Free Hugs". A hug is a simple yet powerful gesture.
